Dave Rosenberg to Again Emcee Yolo Idol Search

Yolo County Superior Court Judge Dave Rosenberg again will emcee the Yolo Idol Search Contest, a major entertainment feature of the Yolo County Fair. The contest starts at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2010, on the West Stage near Rotary Park at the Fairgrounds.

“We are thrilled that Dave Rosenberg is returning to emcee our Yolo Idol Search contest. He certainly was a hit with the audience the last two year. This event attracts a large audience, and Dave’s stage presence and sense of humor adds a lot to it,” said Rita Moore, Yolo County Fairgrounds CEO.

As a former Yolo County Supervisor and Davis Mayor and City Council Member, the judge has been a frequent public speaker and developed a reputation as lively and entertaining, Moore added.

Contestants sing in Karaoke style to prerecorded instrumental accompaniment. In the past song selections have ranged from top 40 and country hits to major show tunes from Broadway or the movies.

Yolo Idol Search is open only to individual singers. No groups, duos or other combinations will be allowed. Each singer must be prepared to sing two songs; one ballad and one upbeat song are suggested.

“All contestants needed to be prepared to sing at least two songs as the winner will be expected to perform an encore,” Moore said.

Each singer’s accompaniment must be on a clearly labeled CD submitted by the contestant with their application. A sound system and operator will be provided.

Due to time limitations, registration will be on a first-come, first-served. The first 20 contestants to sign up will be able to participate.

Each singer must pre-register at the Fair Office, 1125 East Street, Woodland. Forms may be obtained at the Yolo Idol Search website www.yoloidol.com or by calling the Yolo County Fair Office at 402-2222.
 
“There are many talented people in Yolo County, and we want to showcase their talents in both our Idol Search and the rest of our entertainment lineup,” Moore said. The schedule for entertainment during the Fair will be available soon at www.yolocountyfair.net

The Yolo Idol Search is a free admission event at the Yolo County Fair, which is the largest free admission fair in the state of California. The 2010 Yolo County Fair runs from the afternoon of Wednesday, August 18, through the evening of Sunday, August 22.
